CANNIBALPLANET

bpm/N- beats per minute/CANNIBALPLANET considers dancefloor pace to be 130bpm

beat/N- (1)the span between quarter notes// (2)a sample programmed at quarter note increments, esp. a kick drum

clone/V- to disable a riff's status as part of a loop/when a looped riff is edited, each riff in the loop will experience the same changes/cloning a riff removes it from the loop so that it can be tweaked//much of CANNIBALPLANET's percussion consists of former loops that have been tweaked until each riff is intricately unique/initial riffs are programmed from scratch/in most cases, loops are considered part of the programming process, not something for the final product to display in any way

envelope/N- any span within a track, riff or whole composition selected for the programming of duplicate parameters or for a specific range of parameters/envelopes can be programmed with respect to pan, volume, effects, rhythm, or any other value that can be assigned to 2 or more notes, measures, riffs, or tracks within a composition

hevvn's gate/N- the nickname for CANNIBALPLANET's exclusive, undisclosed programming software.

layout/N- (1)the artwork and text included with a recording// (2)/PL- the paper on which it is printed, esp. as presently or recently duplicated

loop/N/V- (1)/N- 2 or more duplicate riffs in succession// (2)/V- to program a loop/technically speaking, measures, beats, even notes can be programmed in a loop, but a loop almost always refers to a series of riffs

monkey/N- a dj/(short for 'monkey with the plastic circles')

note/N- (1)a sample as programmed for a specific duration at a specific pitch// (2)the pitch of a particular sample/at a given bpm, CANNIBALPLANET programs notes at any duration between a sixteenth note (a quarter of a beat) and a span of eight whole notes (eight measures) in one//hevvn's gate also allows for the same note to be repeated very quickly up to 16 times within the span of a 16 note-- resulting in 256th notes at whatever bpm/

pan/(N/V)- (1)/N- a note's position between the left and right// (2)N- an envelope's range on this spectrum// (3)/V-to program the pan of a note or an envelope

pitch/N- the value of a sample's tonal position, esp. as measured by half tone on a 12-step octave/pitch cannot be edited by envelope, except for that of an individual note of a sustaining sample/ CANNIBALPLANET works within six octaves worth of pitch for programming any given note

punchy/A- possessing a tendency to enter data with a measure of sloppiness, esp. as a result of overworking and/or or lakk of sleep//caffeine is always an acceptable excuse for punchiness

rhythm/N- the speed of a given point of a track, most often described in bpm

riff/N- a defined envelope comprising 1 or more tracks, spanning 1 or more whole measures/riffs are conveniently edited as contained pan- and volume envelopes

sample/(N/V)- (1)/N- a short or sustaining sound adaptable to manipulation by programming// (2)/V- to gather a sample//a sample can be copied and manipulated for the creation of a new sample/copying samples in this manner allows for a wider range of manipulations effectively available for the original sound

sample offset/N- a value which measures the point at which a given instance of a sample "begins" as a result of cropping/sample offset can be programmed by the envelope

track/N- a succession of riffs comprising an individual recording/any given part of a composition consists of 1 or more tracks programmed to play simultaneously/hevvn's gate is capable of programming up to 24 tracks

track/N- a complete, individual composition

trigger/N- a sample or instrumentation that is performed at the punch of a button/CANNIBALPLANET currently uses no manual triggers whatsoever, but, naturally, we hope that this will change with the acquisition of new toys

tweak/V- to meticulously alter a stretch of programming, esp. a percussion track/this term most often describes the altering of all or most individual riffs in an extensive loop
